Roy Beck is an Englishman with an exuberant family film heritage spanning many decades.He is a full time professional film and TV actor currently filming as Lord George Wigg on Series 3 of The Crown and as Mr Abbadon on Series 1 and 2 of Hulu’s Harlots. Roy’s very first experience of working in movies was in the early 60s when his father, Roger Moore’s stand-in and double on the first series of the Saint, took him to Elstree Studios to meet Roger and was used as an extra, aged just 10, on the back lot in the episode ‘The Golden Journey’. During the latter 60s, 70s, 80s and into the 90s Roy worked on a great many TV programmes, feature films and commercials. Amongst them Becket, Oliver!, Department S, The Champions, The Prisoner, Where Eagles Dare, Raiders of the Lost Ark,Temple of Doom and many more. During those times he had stand-in assignments for Oliver Reed, Joel Fabioni and Albert Finney. Roy’s mainstream career though was behind the camera where he started as film laboratory technician progressing through to colouristand film and TV editor. Roy worked in Canada and the UK editing
many prestigious programmes including ‘The King of Kensington’ and ‘The Frankie Howerd Show’ for CBC, the ABC coverage of the marriage of Princess Anne and Mark Phillips and Granada TVs drama ‘ComeBack Little Sheba’ where he worked directly with Laurence Olivier and Silvio Narizzano. He also worked with Michael Powell on the remastering of his very first feature film. Roy went on to successfully manage many of London’s foremost post-production facilities in Soho. Since his full time return to acting in 2012 he has had featured character roles in many TV dramas and feature films. These include, Downton Abbey, The Theory of Everything, Kingsman: The Secret Service, Legend, Now You See Me 2, The Infiltrator, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Emmerdale, Sense8, Black Mirror, War Machine, Transformers: The Last Knight, American Assassin, The Foreigner, Murder on the Orient Express, Red Sparrow, Christopher Robin, Killing Eve, The Informer, The One and Only Ivan, Harlots and The Crown. He has been stand-in and double for Michael Gambon and Matthew MacFadyen on ‘Churchill’s Secret’ and for Mark Gatiss on ‘Christopher Robin’.
